It was pretty sudden, yeah. No crackling or anything beforehand, just silence. If it's the display, is there any way I can fix it? Or is the 725€ they quoted me a fair price? I could try.

Ah, sudden death sounds like the display issue is right on the money. I'd say bite the bullet and go to the workshop. It's a pain, but at least it'll be fixed properly. It's a bit like fixing a leaky pipe yourself, only to flood the entire house later.

I had something similar in my Navara. My audio just cut out completely. Did you check the speaker crackle and audio quality before it died, or was it sudden? It could be like a fuse blowing out the main grid.
