Navara Jerking Acceleration

My 2019 Nissan Navara diesel is jerking when accelerating. The check engine light is on, power feels down, and it sometimes stalls. It runs rough and there's a strong exhaust smell. I'm thinking it might be a gasket leak or something messing with a manifold sensor. Anyone seen anything like this?

Summary of the thread

A 2019 Nissan Navara diesel is experiencing jerking during acceleration, a check engine light, reduced power, occasional stalling, rough running, and a strong exhaust smell. The problem is suspected to be related to a gasket leak or an issue with a manifold sensor. A suggestion is made to check for whistling noises around the intake manifold, which could indicate a leak. The issue is confirmed to be a defective intake manifold due to scorching, and the repair resolves the problem.

I had a similar issue with my Navara. Those symptoms sound familiar. I reckon it's pointing to the intake manifold. Have you checked for any whistling noises? That would be a dead giveaway.

Whistling noises, eh? I haven't specifically listened for that, but with the rough running it's hard to pick out individual sounds. Where exactly should I be listening for this whistling, and what does it signify if it's the intake manifold? Is it something related to the manifold sensor?

The whistling would be most noticeable around the intake manifold itself, especially on cold starts. If it's whistling, it's almost certainly leaking. Mine turned out to be scorching around the intake manifold, causing it to leak. Honestly, with those symptoms and the error code, I'd take it to a workshop. Better safe than sorry, especially with a diesel. You don't want to risk damaging the engine further.

I took it to the shop, and you nailed it – intake manifold was indeed defective. Scorching was the culprit, just like you said. Repair cost me 1180€, but at least it's running smooth again. Appreciate the help!
