Navara transmission control unit issue
Summary of the thread
The 2009 Nissan Navara is experiencing starting issues, a check engine light, and erratic shifting, possibly due to a transmission control unit problem. The symptoms include the gear shifter not registering the 'P' position correctly, suggesting a defective control unit. The recommended solution is to have the transmission control unit inspected and repaired by a professional workshop.

Okay, interesting. So, when your Navara had that problem, did the 'P' position on the gear shifter feel off? Like, could you move it, but the car didn't actually register that it was in park?

Exactly! It was like the 'P' position was just a suggestion, not a command. The issue got progressively worse. To be honest, based on your symptoms and the error code, it does sound like the control unit is defective. You will have to take it to the workshop, unfortunately.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed it was the transmission control unit. Repair cost me 1000€ appreciate the help!

I had something similar happen in my Navara. It reminds me of when my automatic transmission was acting up. Check for the error stored in the error memory if possible. It might be related to the affected control unit defective, like in my case. It felt like the whole system was confused, like a brain fart in the gearbox.
