Nemo steering angle sensor issue

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2009 Citroen Nemo, gasoline engine. It's got 137689 km on the clock. I think the steering angle sensor is defective. The steering feels heavy, almost like the power steering has failed, and the steering wheel vibrates quite a bit. Could this be due to faulty coding of the sensor?

Hello. I experienced something similar with my Nemo. Increased steering effort and vibrations could indeed point to the steering angle sensor. Before jumping to conclusions, have you checked your wheel alignment? Alignment problems can sometimes mimic sensor issues.

Thanks for the quick response. I haven't checked the wheel alignment yet, I assumed it was the sensor itself. Is it possible that a bad wheel alignment messes with the steering angle sensor?

It's not that a bad alignment messes with the sensor, but the symptoms can be quite similar. However, since you suspect the coding might be faulty, and given your symptoms, it's probably best to have a workshop run a diagnostic on the sensor and check the alignment. It might point you in the right direction.

Thanks for your advice! I'll get it checked out by a workshop. As it turned out, the steering angle sensor was indeed defective and the coding was faulty! Had to replace it and got a wheel alignment done too. Cost me 195€. Now the steering is as smooth as new.
