Nissan Cube Intake Manifold Flap Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Nissan Cube diesel is experiencing reduced engine power, rough running, jerking during acceleration, and increased fuel consumption, accompanied by a loud hissing sound. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the intake manifold flap control, possibly due to a defective switch. The error code P2004 indicates the intake manifold runner control is stuck open, confirming the flap issue. The recommended solution is to have a professional workshop inspect and possibly replace the intake manifold control unit to resolve the problem.

Error codes? Yeah, it's showing a P2004 code – Intake Manifold Runner Control Stuck Open (Bank 1). So, you reckon it's definitely the intake manifold flap then? How did you fix it? Was it a pain to sort out?

P2004 points straight to the intake manifold flap. If it's stuck open, it will mess with the airflow. I ended up taking mine to a workshop. It needed a new intake manifold control unit which fixed it. They will check if it's just a vacuum leak or if the motor of the flap is broken.

Okay, thanks for the info! Sounds like I'm heading to the workshop then. I was hoping it would be something simple, but a new intake manifold control unit sounds like a job for the pros. I'll post the outcome. It cost me 465€ in the end but the car is like new!

Sounds familiar. I had something like that with my Cube – not sure about the year being the same. Reduced power and rough running… Could be the manifold flap. Those flaps control the airflow into the engine, especially at lower speeds, and if they're not working right, you'll get issues. Is it throwing any error codes?
