Nissan Latio DPF Failure

My 2007 Nissan Latio diesel is a nightmare! I'm experiencing reduced engine power and billowing smoke when I accelerate. I suspect the diesel particulate filter is failing. Has anyone else had this?

Sounds like a blocked DPF alright. Is your engine light on? Have you noticed any drop in fuel efficiency? It might be worth getting a vehicle inspection to confirm it's not just a sensor fault.

The engine light IS on, yes! And fuel efficiency has tanked! A sensor fault could cause all this? What kind of sensor are we talking about?

A faulty oxygen or pressure sensor could definitely trigger those symptoms and throw the DPF regeneration cycle out of whack. But with the engine light AND smoke, the DPF itself is most likely toast. Better get it checked out at a garage.

You were right. Took it to the shop; DPF is shot. Costing me 1550€ to replace! Thanks for the help. At least I knew what to expect.
