Nissan Note DPF Issue
Summary of the thread
The conversation centers around a 2011 Nissan Note experiencing reduced engine power and smoke from the exhaust during acceleration, suspected to be a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) issue. These symptoms are confirmed by another individual who experienced similar problems, including decreased fuel efficiency and a diagnostic scan that identified the DPF as the culprit. The recommended solution is to have a diagnostic scan performed at a workshop to confirm the issue, with potential repair costs being significant. Cleaning the DPF is suggested as a future maintenance option.

Thanks for the insight. Could you elaborate on the specific symptoms you encountered? Did your vehicle exhibit similar levels of smoke during acceleration? Did a diagnostic scan confirm the DPF issue?

Yeah, the smoke was pretty bad when I put my foot down - embarrassing, really. The diagnostic scan straight up said it was the DPF. Head to a decent workshop, they'll be able to tell you straight away if it's the same issue. Cost me a bomb to sort out.

Appreciate you sharing your experiences. Based on your suggestions and the workshop's diagnostic, it seems I have a defective DPF. The repair cost, including filter replacement, is estimated at approximately 1550€. Thanks again for the prompt response and guidance; I'll investigate DPF cleaning as an option for future maintenance.

Sounds rough. Had something similar happen to my Note. Reduced power and smoke are classic signs. Have you checked your fuel efficiency lately? Mine dropped like a rock when I had DPF issues. Might be worth getting a vehicle inspection too.
