Nissan Note tire pressure ABS and steering issues

Alright, I'm tearing my hair out here! My 2014 Nissan Note diesel is throwing me for a loop. The tire pressure warning light is on, which is annoying enough, but it's also triggering the ABS lamp! To top it off, the steering wheel is vibrating like crazy, and it feels like the power steering is giving up on me, making it a real arm workout to steer. Mileage is at 164988 km. I've checked the tire pressures multiple times; they seem fine after I inflate them, but the light keeps coming back on. Could it be a slow leak? I'm thinking it might be the tire monitoring system acting up. Anyone else had this bizarre combo of issues?

Summary of the thread

A 2014 Nissan Note diesel was experiencing a persistent tire pressure warning light, ABS lamp activation, and vibrating steering, suggesting possible power steering issues. Despite checking tire pressures, the problem persisted, leading to speculation about a slow leak or tire monitoring system malfunction. A suggestion to inspect the tire valves revealed a defective valve, which was replaced, resolving the warning light and steering issues.

I had a similar issue with my Note. Same warning light and similar steering feel. Check the tire valves closely. I bet one of them is defective. Are you losing pressure gradually?

You know, that's a good point about the valves. I haven't specifically checked those. When you say 'similar steering feel,' do you mean it felt heavier than usual, almost like the power steering was cutting out intermittently? And how quickly were you losing pressure? Was it a noticeable drop every day, or more gradual?

Yes, exactly! The steering felt heavy, like it was fighting me. I was losing pressure gradually, not a flat tire overnight, but enough that the warning light would come on after a day or two. Definitely have those valves checked. I'd say go to the shop, they can check the tire monitoring too. It might save you some headache.

Thanks a bunch for the advice! It sounds like we had the exact same problem. I took your advice and went to a workshop; turns out, you nailed it – a defective valve was the culprit. New valve, re-inflated tires, and the light's gone, steering's back to normal! Cost me 280€, but worth it for the peace of mind. Really appreciate the help!
