Nissan Primastar engine overheating slow warm up
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Nissan Primastar is experiencing engine overheating and slow warm-up times. The initial suspicion is a thermostat issue, which could be causing these problems. A suggestion is made to inspect the thermostat housing and consider the possibility of a defective map thermostat, which is a common issue. It is recommended to have the vehicle checked by a professional to resolve the problem.

Thermostat housing? I've only really looked at the thermostat itself. What exactly should I be looking for on the housing? Any specific signs of trouble?

In my case, the mechanic mentioned that the thermostat was controlled by a small motor, part of the cooling circuit. He told me the map thermostat was defective, which is quite common he said. It caused similar issues. You may want to consider taking it to a workshop. The repair bill was around 350€.

Thanks a lot! Sounds like it's worth getting checked out by a professional. Will do that and hopefully, it resolves the issue.

I had a similar problem with my old Peugeot. Engine overheating and slow warm-up times sound familiar. Is the thermostat housing perhaps the culprit? Have you checked that?
