Nivus Audio System Dead: Complete Sound Loss Fix Needed

My Nivus audio system suddenly went completely silent. No sound output at all through any speakers or USB audio connections. Previously worked fine with good sound quality but now nothing. Car runs great otherwise. Anyone had similar issues with their audio connectivity? Looking for advice before taking it to a mechanic since my last repair experience wasnt great. Its a 2022 model with 140986km, gasoline engine.

Last month I dealt with a similar audio system issue on my 2019 VW T-Cross. The sound system completely stopped working, including auxiliary input and Bluetooth connectivity. After diagnostics, the problem was traced to a blown main audio amplifier fuse, which also affected the head unit power supply. The root cause was actually a short circuit in the wiring harness behind the dashboard where some cables had worn through their insulation. This turned out to be more serious than expected because accessing the wiring required removing several dashboard components. The repair involved replacing the damaged wiring section and installing a new amplifier unit since the original one had been damaged by the short circuit. Sound distortion had been present for about a week before the complete failure, which is typically a warning sign of electrical issues developing in the audio system. Based on your description, this sounds very similar and likely requires professional diagnosis since it affects all audio outputs simultaneously. For your Nivus, I recommend having the fuses checked first, then a full electrical diagnostic of the audio system components. These symptoms rarely resolve on their own and usually indicate an underlying electrical problem that needs addressing before more extensive damage occurs.

Thanks for sharing your experience. That damaged wiring harness situation sounds really similar to what I am experiencing now. Before my audio system went completely silent, I also noticed some sound distortion and inconsistent volume control issues. Did you remember approximately how much the total repair cost was? Also wondering if you have had any audio connectivity problems since getting it fixed? Really want to avoid multiple trips to the shop if possible. I will definitely get those fuses checked first thing. With the speakers staying completely silent through all inputs, I am worried it might be the same wiring issue you described.

Thanks for asking about the follow-up. Since getting my T-Cross repaired, the audio system has worked flawlessly without any volume control issues or radio silence problems. The sound quality returned to normal and all auxiliary input functions are working perfectly. The repair cost me 280€ specifically for replacing a defective bass speaker, which turned out to be the actual culprit rather than the wiring harness I initially suspected. The mechanic found this during the diagnostic check. It was a straightforward fix once they identified the true problem. The sound distortion you mentioned definitely matches what I experienced before the complete failure. Getting it checked early was the right call, these issues tend to worsen if left unaddressed. Since the repair three months ago, I have not had to return to the shop for any audio-related problems. While my initial guess about the wiring was wrong, having a professional diagnose the exact issue saved time and prevented potential damage to other audio components. Definitely worth getting it checked by someone who can properly test the entire sound system.

Thanks for the helpful advice. I took my Nivus to a certified mechanic yesterday. The diagnosis showed a failing amplifier module causing the complete audio system shutdown. The constant sound distortion I noticed earlier turned out to be the first warning sign. The repair was surprisingly quick, took about 2 hours total. Cost came to 320€ including parts and labor. The mechanic also checked all USB audio connections and the auxiliary input ports while the system was apart. Back on the road now with perfect sound quality across all inputs. Volume control works smoothly again and there is no more radio silence or connection issues. Really glad I did not wait longer to get it fixed as the tech mentioned it could have affected other electrical components if left unchecked. Much better experience than my previous repair shop visits. Sometimes finding the right mechanic makes all the difference. Will definitely return to this shop for future audio system maintenance.
