Good call on the fan! I'll check that tomorrow. But if it IS the thermostat, is it a big job to replace? Anything else I should be looking at while I'm poking around?

Well, I'm no expert, but from what I remember, a faulty thermostat housing can also cause similar issues. I messed around with mine for a while, but honestly, I ended up taking it to a workshop. In my case it was a defective map thermostat. I'd suggest getting it checked out professionally before you start replacing parts.

Thanks a bunch for the advice! I checked the fan, and it seems okay. I'm gonna take your advice and get it checked out by a mechanic. Hopefully, it's just a thermostat, and not something more serious! I'll post what I find out.

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my Note. The slow warm-up and overheating point to a thermostat issue, or possibly the temperature sensor. Have you noticed if the cooling fan is running constantly, even when the engine is cold?
