Oil Pressure Warning Light
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Honda Civic diesel with 144,260 km is experiencing an oil pressure warning light and a diagnostic error related to the engine oil temperature sensor. The issue may stem from a faulty oil temperature sensor or the oil gauge, with a suspicious cable and plug connection being a potential cause. A similar case revealed that degradation in the cable insulation led to intermittent disconnections, suggesting that a professional workshop assessment and repair might be necessary.

That's helpful! What exactly was the issue with your cable and plug connection? Was it visibly damaged, or was it more of a case of corrosion or a loose connection? I'm trying to figure out how deep I need to dive into this. Did it impact your car diagnostics?

Upon inspection, the cable leading to the oil temperature sensor had degradation, showing as minute cracks in the insulation. This caused intermittent disconnections, triggering the warning lights and the error logging in the vehicle's diagnostic memory. Given the intricacies of modern automotive electrical systems, I'd recommend taking your Civic to a qualified workshop for assessment and repair. The repair cost was 95€.

Thank you for your insights. It sounds like the cable is almost certainly the culprit, and your experience has given me the confidence to take it to a workshop. I appreciate you sharing the repair cost; it's good to know what to expect. I'll post when I've gotten it sorted!

I encountered a similar situation with my Civic. The oil pressure warning lamp, the warning light on the speedometer, and the diagnostic error concerning the engine oil temperature sensor all match my past experience. The cable and plug connection are prime suspects.
