Opel Astra 2006 does not start: Possible cause and repair experience with parking heater

Hey guys, I have a problem with my Opel Astra, year 2006, gasoline engine. The car just won't start. Have you had any experience with a malfunction of the parking heater that could be to blame? How did you have it repaired in your garage and what were your experiences? I would be really grateful for your tips and experiences.

Hello, I once had a similar problem with my Opel Zafira, built in 2004. I'm not a professional, but I do have some experience with cars. My glow plug was defective at the time. They took care of it at the garage and it cost me about 560 euros. Have you already had the glow plug checked out? Maybe that's the problem. What other symptoms does the car show? Maybe then I can help you better.

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! Well, the car doesn't really show any symptoms other than not starting. Everything else is working fine. Glow plug, huh? That's a good idea, thanks for that! The last time I was in the garage was at 89262 km. I just hope it won't be as expensive as last time. Did your problems actually go away completely after changing the glow plug?

Hello again! Yes, after changing the glow plug I had no more problems. The car started up perfectly again. It's clear that every repair has its price, but in my case it was definitely worth it. I would therefore recommend that you have it checked at the garage. Maybe it really is just the glow plug and then you'll get rid of the problem quickly. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it won't be as expensive as last time. In any case, let me know when you know more. I hope I've been able to help you. See you then and good luck!

Yo, that sounds really promising! I've honestly never heard of the glow plug, but I think it's great that you shared that with me. I'll go straight to the garage tomorrow and get it checked out. I really hope that this is the cause and that it can be repaired as cheaply as you did. Your experience has really encouraged me, so thank you very much for that! I'll keep you up to date with the news from the workshop. Take care and thanks again!
