Optra ABS Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Chevrolet Optra is experiencing intermittent ABS light activation and system failure, diagnosed as an issue with the lateral acceleration sensor. This sensor is crucial for the functioning of ABS, ESC, and traction control systems. The error code C0063 confirms the sensor's malfunction, which can affect vehicle safety. The recommended solution is to have the sensor replaced and the system recalibrated by a professional mechanic.

Thanks, that's helpful. The alignment was done about a year ago, but I'll keep that in mind. The error code is C0063, which I think points straight to the lateral acceleration sensor. Could this affect anything besides the ABS and ESC, like traction control?

Yep, C0063 confirms it's the lateral acceleration sensor. It does affect more than just ABS and ESC. Traction control uses that sensor too, to manage power and braking. A bad sensor can make traction control less effective, especially when turning or on slick roads. With that error code, I'd get it to a good shop for a checkup. They'll probably need to replace the sensor and recalibrate the system. Looks like it will be around 1000€. Don't ignore it, it's a safety issue.

I appreciate the detailed explanation. It really clarifies the problem. I'm booking an appointment with a trusted shop to get the lateral acceleration sensor fixed. I'll post what happens for other owners to see.

That does sound like the lateral acceleration sensor, which is key for the ABS and ESC. It tells the car if it's going where you're steering. If it's off, the ABS light can come on and the system can shut down because it can't figure out what the car is doing. Have you checked your wheel alignment lately? It's less likely, but bad alignment can mess with those sensors. Also, what's the exact error code you're getting? That'll help narrow it down.
