Orlando preheating lamp and smoke
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Chevrolet Orlando diesel is experiencing issues with the preheating lamp staying on, the check engine light illuminated, and smoke during acceleration. Cold starts are noticeably more labored, yes. Could you say more about the issue you had, and what you checked before fixing it?

Yeah man, sounds like the same deal. Mine was the glow plug relay was fried, easy peasy. Honestly, just take it to a decent shop, they'll sort it quick. It's worth getting it checked properly. Don't want to be messing with engine misfires!

I took it in. It was a defective glow control unit, traced to a bad electrical connector, just like you said. Total cost was 95€. Thanks for the advice.

Dude, preheating lamp on and smokin' exhaust sounds nasty! I had almost the same thing with my Orlando. Check the glow plugs themselves, and the wiring to the control unit. It might be a simple fix. Is it hard to start when it's cold?
