Overheating and Check Engine Light on 2020 Diesel Volvo V90: Possible Controlled Air Damper Issue?

Hey folks, I've got a 2020 Diesel Volvo V90 here with roughly 114k km on the clock. Lately, my dash has been lit up like a Christmas tree with the check engine light and some overheating issues. I'm thinking it might be related to a Controlled Air Damper problem. Has anyone else had a similar situation? I'm kinda hesitant to go back to my mechanic after a not-so-great experience last time. If you have any stories to share or any advice, I'd really appreciate it. Many thanks!

Hey there! Yep, been exactly in your shoes with my 2017 Volvo S90. My check engine light was on for a while and I was puzzled till I found out the issue was with the radiator shutter wiring harness, hiding right behind the bumper. A real pain it was, you can believe that. Had it fixed all up at the garage I usually swing by and trust me, even though it was a pretty technical job, it wasn't something the mechanic hadn't seen before. It's definitely not a minor thing, but quite manageable if caught early. The real challenge here is the whole process of removing and reinstalling the front end to get to the darn defective part. So yeah, that's my two cents. Get it checked out soon to avoid more hassle down the line. Good luck!

Hey there! Thank you for your response - put me a bit more at ease knowing I'm not the only one who's faced this. Your insight about the radiator shutter wiring harness is awfully helpful. Out of curiosity, do you recall offhand how much you ended up paying for the repair? And has anything new cropped up related to this since you fixed it? Thank you!

Hey again! Glad to know my previous message helped you. As for the costs, fixing that radiator shutter wiring harness hiding behind the bumper did leave my pocket a bit lighter, ran me about 215€ in total. It sure was worth it though, considering the hassle it could've turned into if it wasn't taken care of. Now to answer your second question, I haven't had any new trouble related to this after the repair. Particularly that Controlled Air Damper problem you mentioned? Totally sorted. Since the visit to my mechanic, it's been smooth sailing. You've got this, believe me!

Hiya! Thanks so much for your detailed response. Knowing the ballpark price actually helps me prep better. And knowing you've had no more trouble with it sets my mind at ease! I reckon I just need to bite the bullet and get in touch with a good mechanic. Getting my Volvo back to smooth sailing is definitely worth a few bucks. Thanks again for all your help, really appreciate it!
