Paceman Anti Theft Alarm Issue

I come to you today with a rather perplexing issue plaguing my 2015 Mini Paceman diesel. The anti-theft alarm system appears to have taken a leave of absence, storing an error in the memory and rendering itself entirely non-functional. After some digging, the likely culprit seems to be that the alarm system is coded to activate optical locking (indicators). Has anyone encountered this peculiar predicament before? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Summary of the thread

A 2015 Mini Paceman diesel faced a non-functional anti-theft alarm system, with an error stored in the memory. The issue was suspected to be related to the alarm system being coded to activate optical locking (indicators). A suggestion was made to check the battery and consider potential coding glitches. The problem was resolved by taking the car to a specialist who recoded the alarm system, fixing the issue.

Interesting issue! I had something similar with my Mini Cooper a while back. The security alarm would out of nowhere go off, and it turned out to be a weird battery issue combined with some setting in the anti-theft system. Does your Paceman have any other electrical gremlins? Maybe check the battery voltage? It might be a long shot, but it's worth a look. The immobilizer can also act up with low voltage.

That's quite interesting! When you mention 'some setting in the anti-theft system,' could you be a tad more specific? I've already checked the battery, and it seems to be holding a charge just fine. But the error memory keeps showing the alarm system fault. I am wondering if you are referring to some coding setting?

Yep, coding was the key! I didn't dive into the specifics myself, but the shop mentioned something about the alarm system being overly sensitive due to a coding glitch. If your battery is fine and the error persists, I would strongly suggest taking it to a workshop with experience in Mini coding. They should be able to sort it out quickly.

Absolutely brilliant! I took it to a specialist. Turns out, you were spot on. The alarm system was indeed coded to activate the optical locking, which was causing the fault. A quick recoding, and it's all sorted. Cost me a mere 45€. Thanks a million for your help!
