Paceman electrical fault codes

Paceman with km on the clock is throwing a hissy fit. Getting multiple fault codes relating to overvoltage, various systems are failing, and the battery seems weak. Suspect it's a deeply discharged or defective battery causing havoc with the car's ECU. Anyone seen this before?

Summary of the thread

A Paceman is experiencing multiple electrical fault codes related to overvoltage, with various systems failing and a weak battery suspected as the cause. The issue is likely due to a deeply discharged or defective battery affecting the car's ECU. A similar case was resolved by replacing a failed battery, which restored normal function and cleared the fault codes.

I had a similar electrical issue in my Paceman not too long ago. Kept getting a bunch of seemingly unrelated errors popping up, especially during startup. Have you checked the terminals and grounding points? A bad ground can wreak havoc on the car's ECU and cause all sorts of weird overvoltage readings. Also, what's the battery voltage like when the engine is off? If it's consistently low, even after a charge, the battery might be the culprit.

Terminals are clean, grounds seem solid at a glance. Voltage dips pretty low on cranking. You had the same overvoltage DTCs? What exactly fixed yours?

Yeah, the DTCs were all over the place high voltage errors, ABS malfunctions, the whole shebang. I initially chased a few ghosts, thinking it was the alternator or some short circuit somewhere. After tearing my hair out for a week, I took it to a trusted workshop. They load-tested the battery and it failed miserably. Replaced the battery, and everything went back to normal. Might be worth getting yours checked properly before diving deeper into circuit protection issues.

Cheers for the assist. Ended up being a dud battery as suspected. New one fitted, cleared the codes, and all's well. Total damage 290€ all in.
