Palio anti theft alarm malfunction

My 2011 Fiat Palio (gasoline engine) has an anti-theft alarm system that's completely stopped working. The error memory shows a stored error related to the alarm, but the alarm itself is non-functional. I suspect the alarm system might be coded to activate the optical locking (indicators), but I'm not sure how to verify or fix this. Has anyone encountered anything similar?

Summary of the thread

The 2011 Fiat Palio's anti-theft alarm system stopped functioning, with an error related to the alarm stored in the error memory. The issue was suspected to be linked to the alarm system's coding for optical locking. A local shop resolved the problem by resetting and reconfiguring the alarm system.

That's a weird one. I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra. The alarm would just randomly go off, or sometimes not arm at all. Have you had any recent work done, like a power failure or battery change? My issue turned out to be a faulty alarm sensor, but it took ages to diagnose. Have you checked the basics like the car battery voltage?

Thanks for the reply! No recent work or power failures that I'm aware of. Battery voltage seems normal. When you say 'faulty alarm sensor,' do you mean one of the door sensors, or something more specific to the alarm system itself? Do you know what the repair process was?

Yeah, in my case it was a dedicated alarm sensor, not one of the door switches. It was buried somewhere behind the dashboard, a real pain to get to apparently. Honestly, after trying a few things myself, I just took it to a workshop. They sorted it out pretty quickly. I would suggest you do the same, because they can properly diagnose the issue.

Appreciate the input. I took it to a local shop as you suggested. Turns out the alarm system was coded for optical locking, and a reset/reconfiguration fixed it. Cost me 45€.
