Palio Diesel Increased Fuel Consumption Hard to Start
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Fiat Palio diesel with 223,944 km was experiencing increased fuel consumption and starting difficulties. The initial suspicion was a defective throttle valve. However, it was suggested that a faulty accelerator pedal module could be causing the problem by sending incorrect signals to the engine control unit, affecting throttle valve operation. After a workshop confirmed the accelerator pedal module was defective, replacing it resolved the issues.

How might the accelerator pedal module affect the throttle valve and cause these symptoms?

My defective accelerator pedal module sent incorrect signals to the engine control unit, leading to improper throttle valve operation, increased fuel consumption, and starting difficulties. I'd recommend a workshop check to confirm if it's faulty. That was the cause for me.

I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed the accelerator pedal module was defective. The repair was 205€, including parts and labor. Replacing it fixed the fuel consumption and starting issues. Thanks!

I also drive a Palio with a diesel engine and had similar symptoms. Have you checked your accelerator pedal module? A defective module can cause those issues.
