Palio heavy steering vibration
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Fiat Palio with a diesel engine is experiencing heavy steering and vibrations at 161,226 km. The issue is suspected to be caused by a faulty steering angle sensor, potentially due to incorrect coding or alignment problems. It is advised to have the vehicle checked by a workshop to address the steering issues, which are confirmed to be due to the faulty sensor, and the repair cost is 195€.

Alignment problems, you say? Interesting. I haven't had it checked recently, but the symptoms do seem intermittent, not constant. Is it possible the alignment could cause the sensor to act up sometimes?

Yep, absolutely. If your wheel alignment is out, it can put undue stress on the steering column and subsequently mess with the angle sensor readings. The coding of the sensor itself might even be faulty. But with those symptoms, I'd strongly suggest getting it checked out by a workshop pronto. Steering issues are never worth messing with yourself, if you catch my drift.

You were spot on! Took it to a workshop, and the diagnosis came back as a faulty steering angle sensor due to incorrect coding. Repair cost was 195€. Thanks so much for your help! I really appreciate it.

Sounds like a sensor failure to me. Specifically, the steering angle sensor. When those go belly up, they can cause all sorts of havoc with the power steering and produce those weird vibrations you're describing. Have you checked for any alignment problems recently? That can sometimes throw things off too.
