Palio power window failure

I've got a 2002 Fiat Palio, gasoline engine, with a strange issue. The power windows suddenly stopped working. Neither side will budge. I checked the fuses, and they seem fine. The mileage is only 27638 km. Could it be the dreaded window regulator?

Summary of the thread

A 2002 Fiat Palio experienced a sudden failure of both power windows, with no motor sound and intact fuses. An error code related to the window control circuit suggested the issue wasn't with the window regulators. The simultaneous failure of both windows pointed to a defective power window switch as the likely cause. The problem was confirmed and resolved by replacing the switch at a workshop.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Could be a few things, honestly. When you say 'stopped working,' do you mean they don't respond at all, no motor sound or anything? And have you checked for any error codes? Sometimes a simple code reader can point you in the right direction, even for seemingly minor issues like power windows. Also, are you sure all the door switches are properly connected?

Yeah, no motor sound whatsoever from either window. I did manage to get a code reader on it, and it did throw an error, although I didn't write it down. I vaguely recall it mentioning something about the window control circuit. As for the door switches, are you talking about the ones that sense if the door is open? I haven't specifically checked those, how are they related?

Okay, the error code mentioning the window control circuit is a pretty big clue. Coupled with the fact that both windows failed simultaneously and there's no motor sound, it strongly suggests the problem isn't the regulator motor itself (unlikely both would die at the same time). The door switches I mentioned usually control interior lights and sometimes security systems; they're unlikely to be the culprit here, so don't worry about those. However, based on the symptoms and the error code, it's likely the power window switch itself is defective. This kind of thing is tricky. Have you considered getting it checked by a workshop?

Thanks for the input! I took your advice and brought it to a mechanic. Turns out you were right on the money – it was indeed the power window switch. Cost me 200€ to get it replaced. Appreciate the help!
