Palio tail lights electrical fault
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Fiat Palio diesel is experiencing an electrical fault where the tail lights turn on by themselves, and the dashboard lights flicker. The mechanic identified a potential issue with the light switch. Possible causes include a faulty fuse or a loose connection in the headlight switch. Suggested solutions involve checking the fuse box and inspecting the switch connections, but professional assistance may be necessary to resolve the issue effectively.

Thanks for the suggestion! Where exactly is the fuse box located on the Palio? And if it's a loose connection, is it something I can fix myself, or will I inevitably need to visit a workshop?

Fuse box location should be in your owner's manual, or a quick online search should show you. As for the connection, if you're comfortable with basic car electrics, you could try checking the plugs and cables around the switch. But honestly, if it's intermittent and causing errors, it might be best to have a professional take a look. Could save you headaches in the long run. I was quoted 95€ for something like this.

Thanks a lot! I think I'll try checking the fuses first, but you're right, it probably needs a professional. At least now I know it is likely a cable or plug connection and I will be able to describe the problem better at the workshop. Thanks again!

Sounds like a frustrating issue. I had something similar happen with my old car. Have you checked the fuse box? A faulty fuse could cause weird electrical behavior like that. Also, wiggle the headlight switch and see if that affects anything. It might just be a loose connection.
