Palisade engine jerking and stalling

Having trouble with my 2023 Hyundai Palisade with a gasoline engine. It has about 194599 km on it. Recently, the check engine light came on, and I've noticed a pretty significant reduction in engine power. It also runs really rough, especially when accelerating – lots of jerking. Sometimes, it even stalls when idling. Could this be related to a mixture preparation error?

Summary of the thread

The 2023 Hyundai Palisade experienced engine jerking, stalling, and reduced power, with the check engine light on. These symptoms suggested a potential mixture preparation error, possibly related to fuel injection issues. It was advised to check the fault codes, which could be done for free at auto parts stores, to pinpoint the problem. Ultimately, the issue was confirmed to be a defective fuel injector, which was repaired, resolving the problem.

Sounds like it could be fuel-related. A 'mixture preparation error' can mean a lot of things, but with those symptoms, I'd lean towards a fuel injection problem. Is the exhaust smelling particularly rich? Have you noticed any change in your fuel consumption? It could also be an oxygen sensor issue, but those usually don't cause stalling. Is the catalytic converter still original? They can cause similar symptoms when failing. Codes are important. What code reader did you use?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't really noticed a strong smell of fuel, and honestly, I haven't been tracking my fuel consumption closely enough to see a difference. The catalytic converter should be original, as far as I know. I haven't used a code reader myself. How important is reading out the fault codes? Where can I get access to one?

Okay, if you haven't checked the codes, that's definitely the first step. Many auto parts stores will read them for free. The code will give you a much better idea of what's going on. But with those symptoms and mileage, a faulty injector is possible. Given that the car is still relatively new, it is likely under warranty, so best visit the workshop.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the shop, and they confirmed it was a defective fuel injector. Repair cost was 515€. Runs great now!
