Palisade Manifold Pressure Sensor Issue

My 2019 Hyundai Palisade (gasoline engine) has a check engine light, reduced power, poor engine response, and higher fuel consumption. OBD code points to the manifold pressure sensor. I suspect a large vacuum leakage. The car has 81495 km. Anyone else experienced a similar problem?

Summary of the thread

A 2019 Hyundai Palisade experienced a check engine light, reduced power, poor engine response, and higher fuel consumption, with an OBD code indicating a manifold pressure sensor issue. The problem was suspected to be a large vacuum leak. A similar case suggested checking the MAP sensor, which acts like a barometer for the engine. Upon inspection, the MAP sensor was found to be faulty and causing a vacuum leak. Replacing the sensor resolved the issues, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had something similar with my Palisade. Check the MAP sensor, or manifold absolute pressure sensor. It's like the barometer of your engine, telling the computer how much air is going in. When it goes bad, it can throw off the whole system. Is the sensor itself clean and properly connected?

Did the symptoms you experienced mirror mine, specifically the combination of check engine light, diminished power, and increased fuel usage? I want to be absolutely certain before I start replacing automotive sensors.

Yes, exactly those symptoms. Eventually, it got so bad that the engine would barely run. The engine was like a runner with asthma, gasping for air. Considering your mileage and the error code, there's a good chance it's the culprit. To be safe, though, a workshop diagnosis might be worthwhile.

I took your advice and had my local mechanic inspect the MAP sensor. Turns out it was indeed faulty and causing a significant vacuum leak. The sensor replacement and labor cost me 235€. The Palisade is now running smoothly again!
