Palisade Tailgate Hall Sensor Fault

I have a 2022 Hyundai Palisade with a gasoline engine, and I'm having trouble with the tailgate. It's got about 133981 km on it. The error memory is showing a fault with the tailgate hall sensor, and the tailgate isn't opening completely. I'm guessing it's some kind of electrical sensor issue, maybe a bad connection? Has anyone experienced something similar with their automatic tailgate? Any ideas on what to check before I take it in?

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Hyundai Palisade owner experienced an issue with the tailgate not opening completely, with an error indicating a fault in the tailgate hall sensor. The problem was suspected to be an electrical sensor issue, possibly a bad connection. A suggestion was made to check the cable and plug connections at the sensor, which is a common cause of such issues. Ultimately, the problem was confirmed to be a defective cable/plug connection, which was resolved at a workshop.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had a similar issue with my Palisade. The symptoms sound very familiar. I'd check the cable and plug connections to the sensor first. That's where the issue usually lies. Give them a wiggle and see if anything changes. It might save you a trip to the shop.

Thanks for the tip! When you say 'the cable and plug connections', are we talking about the ones right at the sensor itself, or further up the line? I'm not the most mechanically inclined, so any extra detail is greatly appreciated. Is sensor calibration required after fixing the connection?

Yeah, I meant the connections right at the sensor itself. Wiggle them a bit and see if anything changes with the tailgate. If that doesn't work, and since you're getting an error code, I'd say it's probably best to just take it to a workshop. They can diagnose it properly and might have to replace the sensor. I doubt calibration is needed for a simple connection issue, but a faulty sensor may need that. They will also probably have the right diagnostic tools.

Thanks so much for the advice! I checked the connections, but no luck. I took it to the shop. Turns out it was a defective cable/plug connection, just like we suspected. Cost me 95€ to get it fixed. Appreciate the help!
