Panda rough idle error code
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Fiat Panda with a gasoline engine was experiencing rough idling and an error code, suggesting a potential issue with the engine mount or its connections. The problem was suspected to be a defective engine mount or a bad connection, possibly due to a worn rubber mount or mounting bracket. After checking for visible wear such as cracks or tears in the rubber, it was advised to have a professional diagnosis. The issue was confirmed to be a defective cable and plug connection in the engine mount, which was replaced, resolving the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you say 'visibly worn', what exactly should I be looking for? Any specific areas that tend to fail first? I don't want to just start poking around without a clue.

Yeah, by visibly worn, I mean check for cracks or tears in the rubber. If the rubber is falling apart, or if the mount looks compressed or deformed compared to the others, it's probably gone bad. Honestly, though, with those symptoms, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose it and replace the mount if needed.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. It was the engine mount – cable and plug connection defective. They replaced it for 95€. Runs like a charm now!

I had something similar happen with my Panda. Check the cable and plug connection of the engine mount component. Sometimes those connections get loose or corroded, causing all sorts of weirdness. Is the mount itself visibly worn?
