Partner DPF warning light and power loss

My 2014 Peugeot Partner diesel is having issues. At 84636 km, the speedometer shows a DPF warning light, and engine power is noticeably reduced. There's also unusual smoke on acceleration and a strong exhaust smell. Could this be serious?

Fuel consumption seems slightly higher. No unusual noises, just the symptoms described earlier. Is the DPF itself likely faulty, or could something else cause these issues?

Considering the symptoms and increased fuel consumption, a defective exhaust back pressure sensor is a strong possibility, causing these DPF-related errors. I'd suggest getting it checked at a workshop.

It was the exhaust back pressure sensor, as you suspected. Repair cost 245€. Glad it's resolved.
