Thanks for sharing your experience with the door locks issue. I had almost identical symptoms on my Passat last winter, complete failure of the central locking and keyless entry. Your description of the corroded wiring connections sounds exactly like what they found in mine. Did you remember roughly what the repair cost came to? In my case, they charged 450€ for parts and labor, including reprogramming the security system. Also curious if youve had any issues since getting it fixed? My fuse box had some moisture damage they discovered during the repair, but everything has worked perfectly after they sealed it properly.

Thanks for asking about the repair costs. The central locking issue on my Golf was actually resolved much more affordably than yours. The total came to 95€ for fixing a faulty cable connection in the component. Since having the security system repaired, the keyless entry and all door locks have worked flawlessly. The key fob functions perfectly now, and the central locking responds every time. No moisture-related problems have occurred since the fix. Your repair cost seems higher because they likely had to deal with additional fuse box damage and more extensive reprogramming of the security system. In my case, it was just the connection that needed attention, not the entire control module or wiring harness. A proper diagnosis made all the difference, having a technician who understood these electronic systems helped identify the exact fault without replacing unnecessary parts. The key is finding someone who knows how to properly troubleshoot central locking issues rather than just swapping components.

After getting a second opinion, I finally went to a certified shop that specializes in car security systems. The technician quickly identified the same problem with corroded wiring that you mentioned, plus some water damage near the locking mechanism in the driver door. The total repair came to 280€, which included fixing the keyless entry system and replacing some damaged wiring in the security system. They also sealed all the connections properly to prevent future moisture issues. The car alarm and central locking have worked perfectly for the past 3 months. Much better experience than my previous mechanic who wanted to replace the entire door control module without even proper diagnostics. Sometimes paying a bit more for someone who actually knows these electronic systems saves money in the long run. Really glad I asked here first, helped me understand what to look for in a repair shop.

Had the same central locking failure on my 2015 VW Golf GTE hybrid. The key fob stopped working entirely, no door locks response, no trunk release, nothing. After diagnostic testing, the issue was traced to corroded wiring connections in the door control module. The main symptoms matched exactly: complete failure of keyless entry system and manual lock attempts not working. The car alarm system was also non-functional since it relies on the same control module. The repair involved: Testing the door lock control module, Replacing corroded wiring harness connectors, Reprogramming the central locking system, Resynchronizing all key fobs This was not a quick fix, required specialized diagnostic equipment to properly reprogram the security system. The issue tends to develop when moisture gets into the door wiring harness over time. Would strongly recommend having this checked at a dealer or specialist shop with proper VW diagnostic capabilities. While not mechanically serious, the security system is complex and needs correct programming to work properly with the immobilizer and keyless entry features.
