Pathfinder transmission issues
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid with 240,345 km is experiencing transmission issues, including implausible shifting, a transmission warning light, and emergency mode activation. The problem may be linked to worn-out transmission oil rather than undervoltage. A suggested solution is to have the transmission fluid checked and replaced, and a diagnostic scan performed to identify any additional issues. After replacing the transmission oil, the vehicle's transmission issues were resolved.

Thank you. I haven't noticed other electrical issues, and the battery seems fine. I haven't checked the transmission fluid myself. What was the diagnosis and repair for your Pathfinder when you had similar symptoms?

In my case, the issue was related to the automatic transmission, though not solely due to undervoltage. The transmission oil was significantly worn and needed replacement. While changing the oil, the mechanic found minor wear on the solenoids. Given your symptoms and mileage, I'd recommend getting it checked by a reputable workshop to catch it early. Get a diagnostic scan done; it will probably give you a better idea of what is happening.

Thank you. I took it to the workshop, and they confirmed it was worn-out transmission oil causing the problems. They replaced it, and the transmission is now shifting smoothly again. The bill came to 240€, which I think is reasonable. I appreciate your help!

I have a similar Nissan Pathfinder (though not the hybrid). Your symptoms sound like an issue I encountered. Did you notice any other electrical anomalies, like flickering lights or the infotainment system acting up? Have you checked the transmission fluid level and condition? Dark or burnt-smelling fluid could indicate a more serious problem. Any recent work done before these issues started?
