Thanks for the quick reply! You mention checking the voltage... How would I go about doing that, and what sort of voltage am I looking for? Is there a simple test I can do at home, or do I need some fancy equipment? And if it is the sensor, is that a big job to replace?

You can use a multimeter to measure the voltage across the battery terminals. You're looking for around 12.6 volts with the engine off, and around 13.7 to 14.7 volts with the engine running. Anything significantly lower suggests a problem. As for the sensor replacement, it's probably best to take it to a workshop. It may require some diagnostic tools to properly recalibrate the system after replacement. It might be the voltage sensor itself, but there could be something draining your battery when the car is off.

Thanks a bunch for the advice. You were spot on! I took it to a local garage, they ran a proper diagnostic, and yep, it was the battery sensor. Cost me 315€ to get it replaced, but at least the flickering lights are gone and it starts like a champ now. Much appreciated!

Hello. It sounds familiar. I've experienced something quite similar with my 1007. Those symptoms – the weak battery, flickering lights – it all points to a potential issue with battery health. Have you had the battery voltage checked? A failing battery sensor could definitely be the culprit if it's providing inaccurate readings to the car's ECU.
