Thanks. I've visually inspected the connector and wiring, but I didn't see any corrosion or damage. Could you tell me more about how you troubleshooted your Opel Astra, especially any voltage or resistance checks you did?

I spent ages checking fuses and relays. I even swapped the bulbs! Eventually, I took it to a workshop. They plugged in their diagnostic tool, confirmed it was the switch, and replaced it. It was the quickest and easiest way to deal with it. Maybe it's worth getting a second opinion?

Thanks for the suggestion. I looked at the connector more closely with a magnifying glass. There was a small piece of debris causing a short circuit. After cleaning the connector, it seems to be working now. The error message is gone, and the brake lights are working. Repair cost: 0€.

Hey! I had a similar issue on my old Opel Astra, though it was a petrol engine, not diesel. The symptoms you describe – brake light failure and the error message – sound familiar. In my case, it was a faulty brake light switch. Did you check the connector and wiring leading to the switch itself? Sometimes, it’s not the switch but a corroded connector or a frayed wire causing the problem.
