Peugeot 1007 cruise control failure

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2009 Peugeot 1007 (gasoline engine). The cruise control just suddenly stopped working! The display is blank, and it won't engage at all. I scanned for errors, and there's definitely something stored in the error memory related to it. I've checked the fuse box – visually everything looks fine, but I don't really know where to start looking for the issue. Could it be a blown fuse that I didn't recognize or a defective pedal switch? Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2009 Peugeot 1007 experienced a cruise control failure, with the display blank and the system not engaging. Possible causes included a blown fuse or a defective pedal switch. Suggestions to resolve the issue included checking the connections under the steering wheel and inspecting the brake pedal switch. Ultimately, the problem was identified as a defective cable/plug connection, which was repaired at a workshop, restoring the cruise control functionality.

Cruise control issues can be a pain. I had something similar happen on my 1007 a while back. Before diving too deep, have you checked the connections under the steering wheel? There's a plug there that can sometimes come loose or get a bit corroded. That was the cause in my case. Also, a pedal switch is a common cause for this issue, but I would check the easiest things first.

Thanks for the tip! The plug under the steering wheel... is it easy to get to? And when you say 'pedal switch', do you mean the brake pedal switch, the clutch pedal switch, or both? Is there any way to test if these switches are faulty?

Yeah, the plug under the steering wheel is accessible after removing the plastic cover – just be careful with the airbag. As for the pedal switch, yes, I mean specifically the brake pedal switch. Usually, the system checks if the brake pedal is pressed to disengage cruise control. If the switch is faulty, it might always signal that the brake is on, preventing cruise control from activating. Unfortunately, without proper diagnostic tools (like a multimeter), testing those switches is difficult. Given that an error is stored in the error memory, I'd recommend visiting a workshop.

Thanks a lot! I took your advice and brought it to a shop. Turns out it was a defective cable/plug connection as suspected, and after repairing it, the cruise control works like a charm. The repair cost 95€, which is not too bad, I guess.
