Peugeot 1007 engine trouble
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Peugeot 1007 with a gasoline engine is experiencing engine trouble, including a check engine light, reduced power, poor response, and increased fuel consumption. The issue is suspected to be related to a faulty manifold pressure sensor, potentially caused by a large vacuum leak. A diagnostic test confirmed a large vacuum leak, necessitating both the repair of the leak and the replacement of the manifold pressure sensor to resolve the problem.

The diagnostic code indicates a problem with the manifold pressure sensor. Is it possible that replacing the sensor alone might not fix it if a vacuum leak is present?

You're right to be skeptical. Replacing the sensor might only be a temporary fix. If there's a vacuum leak, it'll keep messing with the readings and likely damage the new sensor eventually. Have you considered a smoke test to pinpoint the leak?

I had the car diagnosed, and a large vacuum leak was found. I needed both the leak repaired and a manifold pressure sensor replacement. Total repair cost: 235€.

That sounds familiar. I had a similar experience with my old Opel Astra. Check engine light, loss of power, the works. Could be a faulty MAP sensor, but did you check for vacuum leaks? They can cause all sorts of havoc. What diagnostic codes are you getting?
