Peugeot 1007 Gear Shift Indicator Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Peugeot 1007 diesel is experiencing a complete failure of the gear shift indicator, causing erratic automatic transmission behavior, including slipping and grinding noises. The issue is suspected to be related to a defective control unit, as confirmed by another owner with similar symptoms. The recommended solution is to have the control unit checked and potentially replaced at a professional workshop.

Error codes? I didn't write them down, unfortunately. But was it the same symptoms? Dead gear indicator in the speedometer?

Yep, the exact same symptoms, including the blank display. It was indeed a defective control unit. Bit of a nightmare. Best get it checked at a proper workshop.

Thanks. Took it to a shop and you were spot on. Control unit's fried. Quoted 1000€ for the repair. Ouch!

Sounds familiar... I had similar weirdness with my 1007’s gear selector. Is it throwing any specific error codes?
