Peugeot 1007 Jerking Stalling

Having a bit of a head-scratcher with my 2007 Peugeot 1007, diesel engine. It's got 255844 km on the clock. Lately, it's been jerking when I accelerate, the check engine light's on, and feels like I'm missing some power. I've got a strong exhaust smell. Plus, it runs rough and sometimes stalls. Error memory has some codes stored. Anyone else had similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2007 Peugeot 1007 with a diesel engine was experiencing jerking during acceleration, a check engine light, power loss, a strong exhaust smell, rough running, and occasional stalling. These symptoms suggested potential issues with the intake manifold, possibly a sensor malfunction or a gasket leak. After consulting with others, the owner took the car to a workshop, where it was confirmed that the intake manifold was defective and scorched, leading to a repair costing 1180€.

Whoa, sounds frustrating! Jerking, check engine light, stalling... not good. Could be a lot of things, honestly. Have you checked the intake manifold sensor? Or maybe you've got a gasket leak somewhere in the manifold system itself? Is it throwing any specific misfire codes? I mean, a leak could definitely cause those symptoms.

Manifold sensor, eh? Is there a simple way to check that? I mean, without ripping everything apart? Or how would I spot a manifold leak, assuming that's the culprit? I'm not seeing anything obvious.

Well, checking the sensor can be tricky without proper tools. As for the leak, sometimes you can hear a hissing sound, but it's not always obvious. Given all those symptoms, especially the stalling and error codes, I'd bet on a significant manifold issue. Have you considered getting it checked out at a workshop? I hate to say it, but it might save you a lot of time and frustration.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to the shop, and you were spot on, the intake manifold was defective, apparently scorched. Cost me 1180€ to get it all sorted. Appreciate the help!
