Peugeot 1007 Overheating Coolant Leak

Alright, I'm pulling my hair out here. My 2007 Peugeot 1007 diesel is giving me grief. 293744 km on the clock. The engine's overheating, the check engine light is on, and I've got coolant leaking under the car – pretty sure it's from excessive pressure. I'm getting a control unit communication error. I've checked some of the obvious stuff, but has anyone else wrestled with this demon?

Summary of the thread

A 2007 Peugeot 1007 diesel is experiencing engine overheating, a check engine light, and a coolant leak, likely due to excessive pressure. The issue may stem from a control unit communication error, possibly caused by a defective cable or plug connection. A thorough inspection of wiring harnesses and connectors for corrosion or damage is recommended. Ultimately, a corroded connector on the control unit wiring was identified and repaired by a workshop, resolving the problem.

Based on the symptoms you have described, the fault may indeed lie within the control module system of your Peugeot 1007. The overheating, combined with the warning light and coolant leak, does point towards a potential issue with how the engine's cooling system is being managed. It is plausible that a defective cable or plug connection is causing this miscommunication. Have you examined the relevant wiring harnesses and connectors for any signs of corrosion or physical damage?

Thanks for the quick reply! I visually inspected the wiring and connectors near the control unit, but didn't see anything obvious. Is there a specific area or connector that's a known trouble spot on the 1007 that I should focus on?

Given that a preliminary visual inspection yielded no immediate findings, it is prudent to consider a more systematic approach. While pinpointing a single, universally problematic connector is challenging without a comprehensive diagnostic assessment, the complexity of modern automotive electrical systems often necessitates specialized equipment. Considering the potential severity of the overheating issue, it may be judicious to seek assistance from a qualified workshop. It could prevent further damage to the engine. They can perform a more thorough diagnostic analysis.

Appreciate the detailed advice! You confirmed what I was suspecting. Took it to a shop, and you were spot on – turned out to be a corroded connector on the control unit wiring. They cleaned it up and replaced a short section of wire. Cost me 95€, but at least it's fixed!
