Peugeot 1007 Rail Pressure Sensor Fault

My 2008 Peugeot 1007 with a gasoline engine has a check engine light, stalls when idling, and feels like it lost power. It has almost 300,000 km. An OBD2 reader shows a 'rail pressure sensor signal faulty' error. Could it be just a bad sensor? I'm not sure where to start.

I experienced a similar issue with my 2012 Opel Astra, diesel engine. The symptoms you describe mirror my experience. The check engine light, the stalling, and the power loss all point to a fuel pressure issue. You stated that your OBD2 reader reported a faulty rail pressure sensor signal. Did you examine the wiring to the sensor? In my case the wire harness was damaged.

Thanks for the reply! I haven't checked the wiring harness yet, but I will definitely take a look. Where exactly is the fuel rail pressure sensor located on your Astra? Maybe it's in a similar spot on my Peugeot, and I can get a better idea of where to look for damaged wires.

On my Astra, the sensor was located on the fuel rail, as the name implies. Given the error code you received and the symptoms, it is probable the sensor is defective. In such cases, consulting a qualified mechanic to confirm the diagnosis and perform the replacement is advisable. Attempting repairs without proper knowledge can lead to further complications.

Just wanted to say you were right, it ended up being the fuel rail pressure sensor. I took it to a local mechanic, they confirmed the diagnosis, and replaced the sensor. Cost me 240€, but the car is running perfectly again! Thanks for your help!
