Peugeot 106 ECU Coding Issue

I've got a 2000 Peugeot 106, gasoline engine, with 194012 km on the clock. Recently, I've started getting a fault code. The symptoms are an error message, a warning on the speedometer, and the error is stored. I've scanned the OBD-II port and it's pointing towards a potential coding issue with one of the control modules. Anyone seen anything similar?

A fault code accompanied by those symptoms does suggest an issue with the vehicle's coding. Considering the age of the vehicle, it is plausible that the control module's configuration may have become corrupted or is simply incorrect. Have you carried out any modifications or repairs to the car's electronic systems recently?

No, I haven't made any recent modifications or repairs. I have been experiencing some intermittent electrical issues over the last year, so I thought it may be that. Could a failing battery cause this type of fault?

While a failing battery can certainly cause a multitude of electrical gremlins, it is difficult to say definitively if it is the sole cause, especially given the stored fault code and the error messages. It would be prudent to have the vehicle's coding checked professionally. I would recommend visiting a workshop.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to a local garage who specialize in auto electrics. It turned out that the coding of the ECU was corrupted. Cost me 360€ but it seems to have resolved it.
