Peugeot 106 Injection Nozzle Defect

My 2001 Peugeot 106 gasoline with 129366 km is having engine troubles. I suspect a defective injection nozzle. The car starts poorly, fuel consumption is up, and engine power seems reduced. The idling is uneven, and the engine stalls sometimes. Could a dirty injection valve be the cause?

I have a 106 too, and your description sounds very familiar. I had similar symptoms – rough idling like a tractor, occasional misfires, and a definite drop in performance. Have you considered a potential clogging issue in the injection system? It could be as simple as that.

Interesting. So, when you say 'clogging issue', are we talking about something a fuel additive might resolve, or is it more involved? Did you experience the same poor starting issues?

In my case, a fuel additive only provided temporary relief. The underlying problem persisted. The poor starting was intermittent, but yes, it was present. Given the symptoms and mileage, I would advise taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis and cleaning, or potentially, replacement of the faulty injector.

Understood. The injection nozzle was indeed defective. The repair set me back 515€, but the engine is running smoothly again.
