Peugeot 106 preheating lamp issue
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Peugeot 106 diesel owner reported that the preheating lamp stays on, accompanied by the check engine light and smoke during acceleration. The suspected cause was a defective preheating control unit or a bad connection. Another person with a similar issue suggested it might be an electrical fault in the preheater circuit. The problem was resolved by fixing a dodgy connection to the preheating control unit.

Interesting. Did you also experience the smoke and check engine light, or just the preheating lamp issue?

Yeah, the check engine light definitely came on, and I did notice a bit of smoke, especially on startup. Honestly, I poked around a bit but then I just took it to a workshop. They sorted it out pretty quickly. Best bet.

Cheers! I feared it might be workshop time. It was a dodgy connection to the preheating control unit as suspected. Cost me 95€ to get it sorted. Appreciate the advice!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my 106. The preheating lamp staying on is a classic symptom. I'd bet it's an electrical fault somewhere in the preheater circuit. But I'm no expert.
