Peugeot 106 transmission emergency mode

Hi, I've got a 2001 Peugeot 106, gasoline engine, with 78755 km on the clock. Recently, the transmission indicator light and check engine light have both come on. The automatic transmission seems to be stuck in emergency mode, and it's not shifting properly – it slips, feels unclean, and sometimes makes grinding noises. I scanned it, and there's an error stored related to the radiator oil pressure. I'm suspecting it might be a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone experienced similar issues? Any ideas on where to start looking? I'm thinking about checking for leaks and maybe testing the pressure gauge. Could it also be related to overheating or a coolant leak? Maybe even the oil cooler?

Hey, sounds familiar! I had almost the same problem with my 106. The transmission going into emergency mode is a pain. Check the wiring harness and connectors going to the transmission. A loose or corroded connection can cause all sorts of weirdness. Has the car been overheating at all?

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely check the wiring harness and connectors. Which connectors specifically should I be focusing on? And did you have any issues with grinding noises like I'm experiencing?

I can't remember exactly which connector, but it was the one closest to the radiator, I think. And yeah, I had some slight grinding sometimes too. Honestly, after messing with it for a while, I took it to a workshop. Turned out to be a faulty connection, just like you suspected. Best to get it checked professionally, especially with those noises.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! It's really helpful. I've checked the connection and that was really the issue. I went to the workshop and they checked all the connections and fixed the faulty one. The repair cost was 95€. All warning lights are off now and the car shifts properly again!
