Peugeot 107 Electronic Parking Brake Failure

Nightmare with my 2005 Peugeot 107 diesel. The electronic parking brake has completely failed. The handbrake doesn't work, there's a fault in the error memory, and a warning light is on. Could it be the electric motor in the brake calliper? Has anyone else dealt with this?

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my Renault Megane. Electronic parking brakes are a pain, aren't they? Same symptoms – warning light, error code, and a useless parking brake. Did you notice any grinding noises before it failed?

Grinding noises? Now that you mention it, I think I did hear a kind of whirring sound a few weeks back. But it was so brief, I didn't really pay attention. Could that be related? I'm worried about the repair costs.

That whirring sound definitely points towards the electric motor in the calliper. Sadly, these things often fail without much warning. Given the error codes and symptoms, I'd advise getting it checked by a professional. What do they say about the repair costs?

Thanks for the insight! It was indeed the electric motor in the brake calliper. Replacement cost me 505€. At least it's sorted now.
