Peugeot 107 Engine Knocking Jerking Smoke

Hey, I've got a 2011 Peugeot 107, gasoline engine, with 128k km on the clock. Lately, I've noticed some weird stuff. It feels like the engine's knocking, especially when accelerating. I'm also getting reduced engine power, jerking, and some smoke. Plus, there's an error stored, though I haven't checked it yet. Could it be bad fuel? I always use regular.

Sounds rough. Knocking could be a few things. Is it constant, or only under load? Have you tried using a higher octane fuel? Could be worth a shot before digging deeper.

It's mostly under load, yeah. Higher octane, like premium? Would that really make a difference? I thought that was just marketing hype. What else could it be if not fuel? Ignition timing, maybe?

Premium fuel might help if it's low octane causing pre-ignition. But with smoke and jerking, deposits in the combustion chamber are possible, or even piston slap maybe. Honestly, with all those symptoms and the error code, a workshop is best. Could save you money in the long run.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to a shop, and you were right. Deposits in the combustion chamber. Cost me 425€ to get sorted. Runs much better now!
