Peugeot 107 Oil Pressure Warning

Hi, I have a 2007 Peugeot 107 diesel with 188658 km. Recently, a warning light appeared, and the oil pressure warning lamp keeps lighting up. Could this be serious? I check the oil regularly, but haven't done a full service in a while.

Oil pressure issues in those engines are often linked to oil contamination, especially if the maintenance schedule has been exceeded. Like arteries clogged with cholesterol, the oil galleries become restricted. When was your last oil change? Have you noticed any oil leaks?

The last oil change was maybe 15000 km ago. No visible leaks, but what do you mean by oil contamination? What exactly contaminates the oil?

Combustion byproducts, wear particles, and degraded oil additives contaminate the oil over time, forming sludge. Think of it as adding sand to your engine's lifeblood. Given the mileage and symptoms, combined with the extended interval, internal engine damage is possible. I suggest having the oil pressure checked at a workshop ASAP.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a local garage, and it turned out the oil was indeed heavily contaminated. They flushed the engine and replaced the oil and filter. Cost me 165€, but at least the warning lights are gone.
