Interesting! So it was the pressure sensor and not the DPF itself? What exactly did the sensor do, and how did it cause those problems?

Well, in my case, the faulty sensor was giving the car's computer incorrect readings about the exhaust pressure, making it think the DPF was blocked when it wasn't. This caused the engine to reduce power to protect itself, leading to the smoke and smell because it wasn't burning fuel correctly. I'd say it's best to get it checked out by a professional to be sure!

Thanks for the insight! I took it to a workshop; you were spot on – it was the exhaust back pressure sensor! The final bill came to 245€. Replacing that fixed all the problems. Appreciate the help!

Hey, that sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms with my old Vauxhall Astra – warning light, sluggish engine, the works. Turned out to be a faulty exhaust back pressure sensor, messing with the DPF readings. Is it possible that your issue could stem from the same sensor?
