Peugeot 107 wont start

Having a nightmare with my 2005 Peugeot 107, gasoline engine. It just won't start! Mileage is about 283912 km. I'm guessing it's some kind of engine control malfunction. I thought it might be the fuel injection, or even worse, ECU failure? Could it be engine software related? I checked a few things myself, but I'm no expert. Any ideas?

The symptoms you describe suggest a potential electrical issue. Have you inspected the battery cable connections for corrosion or looseness? A poor connection can prevent the engine from starting, even if the battery itself has sufficient charge. This would be the easiest aspect to assess initially.

Thanks for the quick reply! Battery cable connections, huh? I did give them a quick look, but maybe I wasn't thorough enough. What exactly should I be looking for? And could that really stop the engine from starting completely?

Visually inspect the connections for any signs of corrosion – a white or bluish powder – which can impede electrical flow. Ensure the terminals are securely fastened; even a slightly loose connection can prevent sufficient current from reaching the starter motor. Given the age of the vehicle, it might be prudent to consult a qualified technician for a comprehensive diagnosis.

You were spot on! It WAS the battery cable connections. Took it to a local workshop, they cleaned everything up and tightened the connections. Cost me 155€, but it's running again! Thanks so much for the advice!
