Peugeot 108 Engine Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Peugeot 108 with a gasoline engine is experiencing reduced power, poor response, a whistling noise, a loud hissing sound during acceleration, occasional stalling at idle, and increased fuel consumption. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the boost pressure actuator, possibly due to a defective electrical bypass valve. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle inspected and repaired by a professional, which was confirmed as the correct diagnosis and repair path.

Thanks. I'm not familiar with the boost pressure actuator. Could you explain what it does and how a fault there might cause these symptoms?

Basically, it controls the turbo wastegate. If it's faulty, your turbo isn't working right, causing loss of power and weird noises. Given all the symptoms, especially the stalling, I'd seriously consider taking it to a shop to get it checked out. Could be a defective electrical bypass valve.

I took the car to a workshop. They diagnosed a defective electrical bypass valve for the boost pressure actuator, as you suggested. The repair, including parts and labor, was about 250€. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Whoa, that sounds rough! A whistling and hissing sounds like a boost leak to me. Maybe the boost pressure actuator is acting up? Is it throwing any specific error codes?
