Peugeot 108 start stop issue

Hi, I'm having a weird issue with my 2014 Peugeot 108 (gasoline engine). The start-stop system just quit working. I keep getting an error stored in the error memory, the engine randomly shuts off, and the warning light for the start-stop system is constantly on in the speedometer. I've checked a few things, like fuses, but I'm not really sure where to start. Could it be something simple like a battery issue? The car has 243031 km, so it's seen some use.

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane. The start-stop packed it in and it turned out to be the battery. Modern cars are super sensitive to voltage drops, even if the battery seems okay for normal starting. The start-stop needs a healthy battery to work reliably. Have you had the battery tested?

Interesting, thanks for the insight! No, I haven't had the battery properly tested, just visually inspected it for corrosion. Is it really that sensitive? I thought the start-stop just used the starter motor like normal, so wouldn't that mean the battery is okay if the car starts?

Yeah, modern start-stop systems are real divas. They need the battery in tip-top condition to function. It's not just about starting the engine. They measure the voltage like hawks. It's like trying to run a marathon on half a sandwich – you might start, but you won't finish! If visual inspection didn't turn up anything, I would get it tested at a workshop. It could be other components, like the starter motor or even something with the hybrid system if it's a hybrid model, but a weak battery is the most common culprit.

Alright, that makes sense. I'll get the battery properly tested then. Turns out it was the battery, as you thought! I got it replaced for 290€, and that fixed the problem. Thanks a bunch for the help!
