Peugeot 108 start stop issue
Summary of the thread
The 2014 Peugeot 108 experienced issues with its start-stop system, including random engine shutdowns and a persistent warning light. The problem was suspected to be related to the battery, as modern start-stop systems require a healthy battery to function properly. After testing and replacing the battery, the issue was resolved, confirming the battery as the root cause.

Interesting, thanks for the insight! No, I haven't had the battery properly tested, just visually inspected it for corrosion. Is it really that sensitive? I thought the start-stop just used the starter motor like normal, so wouldn't that mean the battery is okay if the car starts?

Yeah, modern start-stop systems are real divas. They need the battery in tip-top condition to function. It's not just about starting the engine. They measure the voltage like hawks. It's like trying to run a marathon on half a sandwich – you might start, but you won't finish! If visual inspection didn't turn up anything, I would get it tested at a workshop. It could be other components, like the starter motor or even something with the hybrid system if it's a hybrid model, but a weak battery is the most common culprit.

Alright, that makes sense. I'll get the battery properly tested then. Turns out it was the battery, as you thought! I got it replaced for 290€, and that fixed the problem. Thanks a bunch for the help!

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane. The start-stop packed it in and it turned out to be the battery. Modern cars are super sensitive to voltage drops, even if the battery seems okay for normal starting. The start-stop needs a healthy battery to work reliably. Have you had the battery tested?
