Peugeot 2008 Diesel Turbo Hissing

I'm having major issues with my 2014 Peugeot 2008 diesel. The check engine light keeps popping on, and the car feels like it's lost power. It's got 154283 km on the clock. Engine response is terrible, and I'm hearing a weird, loud hissing when I try to accelerate. Sometimes, it even stalls at idle, and my fuel consumption has gone up. I'm thinking it might be something to do with the turbo system, maybe an actuator fault or a boost leak? I've checked some hoses, but can't find anything obvious. Anyone experienced anything similar?

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra, though it was a petrol engine. Turned out to be a faulty electrical bypass valve. Made a similar whistling sound and the engine was gutless. Have you checked the turbo wastegate?

Thanks for the quick reply! An electrical bypass valve, huh? I haven't specifically checked that. Where is it usually located, and is it something I can easily inspect myself, or will I need to get the car on a lift? And what should I be looking for?

On my Astra, it was near the turbo itself, but I'm not sure about the Peugeot. Honestly, if you're hearing loud hissing and the engine is stalling, it might be best to get it to a workshop. Could be a boost pressure issue that's hard to diagnose without proper tools.

I took it to the shop, and it was indeed the electrical bypass valve – cost me about 250€ to get it sorted. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction; I was losing my mind trying to figure it out!
